TEACHER TRAINING SEMINARS - WORKSHOPS 

 

Under the “it could be me – it could be you” project, the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr) in association with UNHCR Greece (UN Agency for Refugees) are organizing a series of  short or long term training seminars and workshops, for primary and secondary education teachers and students, youth facilitators/trainers, local humanitarian groups and members of the local community (human rights organizations, parents’ unions, local municipality officials, teachers’ unions et al.) 

 

 


The seminars use theatre, educational drama and play-through-theatre techniques, are based on educational material created by the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr), UNHCR Greece and other organisations, and address issues of human rights, acceptance of the "other", interculturalism, citizenship, fight of racism and xenophobia,  et al.

The seminars also include the role play “Passages” and the books “Monologues across the Aegean Sea” and “Skliro Karydi”.

 

All seminars are free of charge and are delivered by trained and authorised drama pedagogues and facilitators.

Priority will be given to the members of the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr)

On Tuesday, July 7 at 18:00Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr), in the context of the 9th Antiracist Festival of Social Solidarity in Kozani, hosted an online Presentation of the Quarantine Monologues project (via a Zoom meeting).

In April and May 2020, twenty four (24) teenager refugees (boys and girls) with different backgrounds and origins such as Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran Pakistani Balochistan, citizens of Syria, Cameroon and Benin, Kurds from Syria and Somalians, participated in 15 online creative writing workshops facilitated by three Greek writers.

The creative writing workshops provided a forum to teenager refugees who live in various facilities and regions of the country to voice their thoughts and emotions while the coronavirus quarantine was still in place.

After the creative writing workshops end, the texts are included in a special publication in Greek and English.

The methodology and practice of working with the teenager refuges was showcased, texts created during the writing workshops were read and personal experiences from this period were shared.

Quarantine Monologues project is organised by the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr) in cooperation with the UNHCR Greece, (the UN Refugee Agency) as part of the “it could be me – it could be you” project. “It could be me – it could be you” is an awareness raising project, targeting the educational community at large, on refugees and human rights using experiential learning, theatre and educational drama techniques.
