"Aegean Monologues" 2017 - School festivals

a voice to the unaccompanied refugee children's dreams...

Over 1000 students from 69 schools of primary and secondary education all around Greece, drawing inspiration from the book "Aegean Monologues - the journey and dreams of unaccompanied refugee children", give a creative life to the thoughts, memories and dreams of their peers, unaccompanied refugee children. Between the 18th and the 31st of March, the "Aegean Monologues" travel to 8 cities of Greece (Athens, Thessaloniki, Ioannina, Kalamata, Corfy, Patras, Trikala, Volos), bringing together the creative forces of the educational and local community.

UNHCR and the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network, in the context of the educational project "it could be me; it could be you", host a series of events and school festivals, dedicated to the dreams and hopes of unaccompanied refugee children, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, celebrated on March, 21. On this day, schools and groups around the world are called to organise artistic actions and events in the same vein, in the context of the International Action Day 2017 "Aegean Monologues", as defined by the International Drama/Theatre and Education Association (IDEA) and the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network, with the support of UNHCR.

Let us give voice to the generations that have had to lose their childhood in war, expulsions and deprivations giving their monologues the chance to become dialogue in a world without discrimination and intolerance, which embraces them all.
