Workshop for adults

The disobedient body
Facilitator: Ioanna Mitsika
Language Greek & English

Workshop description
The body breathes, grows tired, reacts, yields, resists, hurts, shares, follows, fears, desires; it comes from the past and moves toward the future. The body through which we are present; the strong and vulnerable body; the body of memory, pain, and joy; the body within society, the political body. The body that carries our personal journey while also narrating human history.

Through physical practices — including elements of contemporary dance, movement improvisation, and physical theatre — and using play as a central tool, we will explore the body as a primary means of expression. We will unlock our personal movement vocabulary, work in pairs and groups, meet one another, and create individual and collective stories. We will observe how a shared stage language emerges through physicality and how the personal body transforms when it encounters other bodies. What happens when the body stops obeying mechanically and begins to be truly present?

No previous experience is required to attend the workshop. Comfortable clothes and shoes are recommended.
