The Conference 2003 in numbers and our acknowledgements
A Conference lasting 15 days, with 600 participants from 18 countries, 56 speakers, 41 workshops, 13 posters, 6 theatre companies (3 of them came from abroad), 8 student film presentations (from 2 different festivals), 7 performances (2 of which took place in Athenian theatres), a 28-member Organizational Committee, an 11-member Advisory Committee, a 5-member feedback group, 22 volunteers, 30 interpreters, 9 translators, 12 collaborating organizations, 13 cooperating Athenian theatres, 2 graphic artists, 1 publishing house, 110 pages on a 2- language website, 4.64 Gb PC files and 10 months of preparation with no constant funding, probably owes many thanks to many different people and organizations, especially when everyone who helped organize and realize this Conference offered time and knowledge without payment.
Therefore, our thanks are honest and not a formality. We would like to thank the public sponsors, the local municipalities, the Theatres e.t.c. that helped us with the funding of the Conference.
We would especially like to mention the part played by the Advisory Committee of the Conference, the Attica District Educational Directorate, the Eastern Attica Local Directorate of Secondary Education, the "Olympic Education" program, the MELINA project, the "General Secretariat for the Youth" and the "Theatre Education Network of Hellenic Teachers" who supported the organizational committee throughout the Conference.
We would also like to thank all the collaborating organizations, associations, theatre groups, and Athenian theatres, that enriched the Conference with their participation and continue to support the "Theatre and Education" project as it treads through difficult times for the arts in education.
Special thanks goes to the "Arsakeio Schools", which generously hosted the Conference and to the "Theatro Technis", which hosted the performance of the "Bosnian Peace" by the Mostar Youth Theatre, the proceeds of which were donated to a school in Palestine.
The contribution of the speakers, the facilitators, the interpreters and the translators, the volunteers and, of course, the members of the Organizational Committee, was crucial to the smooth running of the Conference. Many thanks to all.
