Afroditi Madika holds a BA (Hons) in Modern English Studies from the University of Luton in UK, she is in her final year as an undergraduate student from the Workshop of Cultural Education, “School of Play”, while she attends the programs of Music Movement and Adult Education Instructors from The Centre of Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Afroditi was an administrative associate for a succession of 10 years for Otis Elevators Company, the world’s leading manufacturer and service provider of elevators, in charge for the region of West Macedonia, until 2014 when she resigned in order to establish the Centre of Creative Play for Children “Red Socks” and turn her love for the children into a profession. There, through the application of a variety of experiential methods and innovative activities is attempted the redefinition of the role of play in the advancement of knowledge and of learning. Afroditi has also attended many seminars and workshops related to the Creative Play for Kids, while she has been invited as a speaker in various conferences in order to present innovative methods of learning that she had applied and tested in her Centre “Red Socks”. She is married with architect Haris Karampelas and has two children, Manolis 11 and Danai 9.
