This experiential workshop approaches the issue of cooperation and communication between children and is based on Drama in Education techniques. Through their participation the team members get involved in experiential activities and explore new ways of resolving arguments and disagreements. They also express their feelings through verbal and non-verbal communication and are encouraged to avoid violence and aggressive behaviour. The workshop also promotes the value of dialogue and cooperation through the spirit of equality and diversity. Participants experience the program exactly as they will apply it themselves to their group or class. It is addressed to Primary Education teachers, theatre theoreticians, theatre facilitatorsand people involved with children.
Eleni Polyviou has a Bachelor’s Degree on Greek Philology and a Master’s Degree on Applied Drama. She is currently a PhD candidate on Educational Sciences (Drama in Education). As a drama facilitator, she has applied a variety of theatrical pedagogical programs to children aged 3-18 in schools and organizations, while she has experience in Drama in education & community. She has facilitated drama workshops to teachers at the Theatrical Organization of Cyprus and participated as a researcher in the Pan-Hellenic Theatrological Congress 2017 entitled "Theatre and Otherness" as well as in the 3rd Pan-Hellenic Scientific Conference IAKE "Humanities, Education, Society and Political Education". She has also participated in programs of the Cyprus Youth Organization and other European programs. On a voluntary basis, she was been a member of the Playback Youth Theater group as a facilitator of applied drama, and has implemented workshops using drama as social intervention in Prison and young Offenders schools.
Maria Anastasiade is a social worker and postgraduate student in Theatre Studies. She has been teaching drama to children from 3 to 15 years old for the last 15 years and has participated in a number of theatrical and pedagogical programs. Since 2004, she has been the Principal of a nursery school and a coordinator of European programs. She has facilitated theatrical workshops for teachers with the Theatrical Organization of Cyprus and participated as a researcher in the Pan-Hellenic Theatrological Congress 2017 entitled "Theater and Otherness" and in the 3rd Pan-Hellenic Scientific Conference of IAKE titled "Humanities, Education, Society and Political Education" as well as in the conference for the family in collaboration with the Metropolis of Limassol.
