“It Could Be Me – It Could Be You” is an awareness-raising programme for the educational community focusing on inclusion and human rights. It takes forced displacement and refugees as its starting point and aims to prevent and combat racism, xenophobia, and all forms of discrimination and exclusion through experiential activities, theatre techniques, and educational drama.

The programme is addressed to teachers of all subjects and educational levels, as well as facilitators of youth groups who are interested in organising similar activities or programmes in their school or group.

It was implemented from February 2015 to June 2025 by the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr) in collaboration with the UNHCR – the UN Refugee Agency. Since October 2025, it has continued to be implemented by the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network with the support of its members, under the auspices of UNHCR and IDEA (International Drama/Theatre and Education Association), and with the scientific support and collaboration of several university departments.

The aim of the training cycle is to empower teachers, enrich their knowledge and skills in theatre and intercultural education, and equip them with theatre and drama techniques so that they can design and implement their own activities with children.

The programme includes the following actions:

  • Action 1: Training seminars and workshops for teachers, university students, group facilitators, staff of local humanitarian organizations, and members of local communities.

  • Action 2: Theatre-in-education workshops for students.

  • Action 3: Networking of schools and educators through pedagogical and coordination meetings by region (Action 3a) and training of  facilitators (Action 3b).

  • Action 4: Forum theatre performances for students, teachers, and members of the local community.

  • Action 5: Action Days and Student Festivals.

  • Action 6: Joint activities involving local and refugee students and youth.
