"Education & Theatre" Journal celebrated the completion of 20 issues in Athens on December 2, 2019

Members and Friends of TENET-Gr wrote about the celebration and the significant threshold of 20 issues:

In my experience there are two types of drama journal - those written by those that ‘think’ and those written by those who ‘do’.
This has always struck me as an entirely unsatisfactory state of affairs. However, this never seems to be the case with the TENet
Journal which seems to committed to a real balance of aspiration, reflection and pragmatics. I’m delighted to be joining the Academic Committee. Long may the praxis continue...”

Dear colleagues, I am very sorry but I cannot attend the twentieth anniversary of the Education & Theater Journal and the Academic-Advisory Committee. I would have loved to come to Greece to stay with you but I have work commitments that I cannot cancel.
I hope your party has a successful outcome and is the beginning of a new series of successes for a journal that has become a point of reference in the field of theater pedagogy.
My best regards and a hug from Italy

As a long-time supporter of the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network and a published author in your Journal, I am delighted that the good work of so many in Greece will enter a 3 rd decade, stronger and with new plans for English publications of your Education and Theatre journal.
The strong practice and research in Greece will now reach a wider audience; I have no doubt that new partnerships will be formed.
Congratulations on your years of success and the ones to come. As I look out my window with snow covering my garden, a bright blue sky, and a temperature of -20 degrees Celsius, I can tell you honestly that there is nowhere else I would rather be than right there in Athens with you all!
Enjoy your celebration and know that many of us around the world are with you in spirit.
Warmly,

Kathleen Gallagher, Professor University of Toronto, Canada, 2/12/2019

Dear colleagues, thank you very much for the invitation to the Academic-Advisory Committee of your Journal. I’m glad that I can take part in it and I’m also looking forward to our collaboration. Unfortunately I can not join you in the celebration of the 20th anniversary. But I would like to congratulate you and all the members of the Committee and all the authors and staff of the journal. Good luck for the next 20 Years!
Greetings form Berlin

Dear Committee Members and all who are associated with this important journal,
I am very sorry not to be able to attend in person today but I am with you in spirit and greatly honoured to have been asked to serve on the Committee. While you celebrate, I am facilitating a workshop in Warsaw where I will be supporting more teachers in using the methods familiar to TENet-Gr members. Despite the unpropitious times we live in, the flame of TENet burns bright and the Journal is a key instrument in disseminating practices that help us to enjoy richer, more human lives. A toast to changing the world and a toast to you all.
Warmest wishes,

Dear Colleagues, Greetings from New York City. I hope you are enjoying your anniversary celebration - and that you are warmer in Athens than we are here! I wish I could be with you but alas that is not possible, so this message will have to suffice. First of all, I offer congratulations to you for achieving the publication of your 20th issue of your important Education and Theatre Journal. I know from experience that an editor’s job, whether solo or as part of a team, is never easy, and in our field, where everyone is overworked and underpaid, it can be particularly challenging. So well done to you all for your past successes.
However, you are clearly not satisfied - and therefore perhaps a little mad! I am extremely impressed that you are not content to rest on your laurels, but are determined to expand your work and, I presume, your audience, by moving forward to publish in both Greek and English. Your dedication is humbling and I am honored that you have invited me to play a part in this venture. I look forward to collaborating with you, acquiring new colleagues, and making new friends. Finally, in closing, if I may be a little presumptuous, I want to give voice to what I am sure you all know (or you would not be doing this in the first place) which is to say how important your work is! It is much more than an academic venture. As we look at our world today, we see a rising tide of barbarism everywhere. We can despair or we can do our part to combat it. What the best of theatre and education offer is hope - and a call to action! And what you are providing is a critical lens through which to observe, interrogate, strengthen and disseminate that vital work, work that has the power to inspire, to bring people together, to promote dialogue, to speak the truth, to create new visions, and to reaffirm what it means to be truly human. Time and again, it has been the artists who have provided the light in times of darkness. What you are doing is part of that tradition: it cannot be underestimated. We need some of that light now!
Thank you all.
