Mosaic of Creativity: Collective Abstract Painting Workshop

Workshop description
This is an art workshop based on painting, aimed at creating a large-scale collective abstract artwork. The workshop is designed for a group of people who wish to spend approximately three hours together, having fun and relaxing through the use of colors, brushes, pencils, and pastels. No drawing skills or previous painting experience are required.
We begin by placing sheets of paper side by side in order to form a large surface. Then, accompanied by music, each participant takes turns drawing abstract lines across this shared surface, freely choosing the technique and colors they prefer.
Once the large surface (made up of all the participants’ sheets) is sufficiently filled with a network of initial lines, the sheets are separated and redistributed among the participants. Each person is then free to fill in the spaces created by the previous lines using the patterns, techniques, and colors of their choice. In this way, the artwork, which began as a collective creation, temporarily becomes personal.
Finally, when each participant is satisfied with their work, all the sheets are reunited to compose one unified large-scale abstract painting. The collective artwork becomes the result of combining each individual’s personal creativity.
Francesco Moretti was born in Pisa in 1973. He graduated from the Experimental Art High School of Lucca (1988–1992) and earned his degree with honors from the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence (1992–1997). For the past three decades, he has worked in painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, video art, interior decoration, design, graphic arts, and advertising. He has collaborated with renowned artists, such as Keith Haring, Marco Eberle, and Theodoros Papagiannis, and has developed an extensive exhibition career through numerous solo and group exhibitions internationally. He has also worked as an interior decorator in Italy, Greece, and Switzerland; as a lighting and set designer for theatre and cinema; in the technical direction of festivals; and as curator of visual arts exhibitions for the Municipality of Pisa. His works are included in important public institutions, museums, cultural centers, and distinguished private collections in Italy, Greece, Switzerland, France, Taiwan, and Morocco. At the same time, large-scale murals created by him adorn public spaces in Pisa, Sardinia, and Athens. He has taught visual arts courses at the Public Vocational Training Institute (DIEK) of Nafplio, in the Postgraduate Program of the Department of Theatre Studies at the University of the Peloponnese, at the Fougaro Art Center, at the Nafplio Cultural Gate, at the Vocational Training Center (SEK) of Epidaurus, at Tiryntha Prison, and at the Art School of Argolida. Since August 2005, he has been living and working between Italy and Greece. Since 20026 he has been a registered member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece, and since 2011 he has his own art studio in Nafplio.
