Does someone climb onto a chair to see the world, or to be seen by the world?
As we find ourselves in a time and place where anyone feels entitled to judge what’s best for you, would you want them to make decisions for you too?
If you had something to say to the world, what would it be?
An ordinary piece of furniture found in every home, yet full of hidden symbolism, became the inspiration for the powerful work of Italian artist Davide Dormino and his monument “Anything to Say?”, presented at Alexanderplatz in Berlin. Taking this installation — dedicated to freedom of speech and to all those who dare to speak out — as our starting point, we ask: how easy is it really to find and use our voice?
For each person, these questions have different answers. And that is the essence of the chair.
Through techniques of devised theatre, performance, and personal storytelling, this workshop becomes a living forum of freedom and expression. Together, we will create our own “monument of speech”, inspired by the experiences, concerns, and dreams of individuals during adolescence. For those who wish, this is a space to become creators, speakers, and performers — in a space of expression, resistance, and participation.
Will you step onto the chair of courage?
