Part of the 2018 ATHENS GREECE INTERNATIONAL THEATRE/DRAMA & EDUCATION CONFERENCE
organised by the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr)
Language: Greek, English
This workshop is addressed to teachers of all subjects, music, theater and drama educators and all of those who want to experiment with space and sound as part of a performance. Participants, divided into groups, are invited to, sonicly explore and observe public space around “Moraitis School” (roads, parks, courtyard, etc.). During their sound wandering, participants select environmental elements of their interest and “translate” them, using expressive mediums of their choice (sound, movement, speech, image) and present them to the rest of the groups. These “translations” are then transferred on paper with the form of graphic or verbal score. These scores are then combined, and performed collectively, in order to create a performance.
Previous music training is not required. The needed materials, will be provided, but it would be helpful, to bring your musical instruments or sonic objects (bags, bottles, packs, newspapers, etc.) as well as stationery of your choice.
Through this workshop we intend, for the participants, to reflect on and familiarize themselves with the concepts of space and sound, on the implementation of self-action and collective creation in educational process and on using open scores and performance as an educational tool in music and drama education.
