2025: WAAE 2025 International Arts Education Week 19-25 May 2025
We arts educators, from all areas of arts, will not bow down!
Through arts in education we address social justice and climate justice issues, we foster empathy and understanding.
Facing the current state of global violence, we will not bow down!
We pledge for artistic expression as a tool for dialogue, reconciliation, and inclusivity.
Facing the current state of bipolarization, racism and xenophobia, we will stand up strongly against them!
We pledge for democratic citizenship and peacebuilding.
WAAE will celebrate the 2025 UNESCO Arts Education Week through a series of Forums and Webinars during the week, and through public actions of the members of our associations.
WAAE invites you, your colleagues, your students and your friends to fight for Arts Education as a tool for personal and social growth in all contexts of learning, to ‘draw a line’, ‘to play a line’, ‘to make a line’, ‘to sing a line’, ‘to dance a line’ that reflects the power of arts education to inspire creativity, expression, and thoughtful critique. Arts education articulates and activates culture and much more. Arts education in its different art forms as well as in articulation with other areas is an essential part of education.
To celebrate the 2025 WAAE 2025 International Arts Education Week we call art educators from over the world to join us expressing their active involvement though these actions:
- Ring the bells, drum drums, sing, dance, play an instrument in public for arts education,
- Draw a line for Education through Art.
