(more on the Summer Camp 2024 here)
The workshop is a movement composition experience that engages participants in activities designed to foster interaction and unity through sensory activation. Emphasizing the diversity and uniqueness of each body, the workshop aims to promote coexistence. Through grouping and interaction, bodies will find themselves in communion, in distance, in vibration, in common rhythm, in imitation, in darkness, in companionship, in awkwardness, in negotiation, in solitary wandering.
Combining elements of dance and experiential education, the workshop encourages participants to discover their personal movement, experiment and interact with others, and explore various approaches to teamwork. Participants will create imaginative maps, captured as choreographic compositions in real-life space. The workshop will conclude with a collective choreographic map.
Sonia Ntova is a dance practitioner based in Greece with a decade of experience working across Europe. She engages in solo works, collaborations with various artists, and teaching dance and movement in diverse contexts. Sonia holds a Master's degree in Dance and Participation from the Danish National School of Performing Arts in Copenhagen, graduating with excellence, and a state diploma in classical and contemporary dance from the Greek Ministry of Culture. She runs and collaborates on various artistic-educational programs focusing on the sensitive body, including ERASMUS+ programs. Sonia choreographs and produces artistic works funded by the Greek Ministry of Culture. She is a collaborator in the “It Could Be Me – It Could Be You” program by the Hellenic Theatre/Drama & Education Network (TENet-Gr) and UNHCR Greece, which runs educational workshops to cultivate empathy and inclusivity regarding refugee issues. As the artistic leader of the 'Sensorial Ecotopias' project, she researches sustainability and active biopolitics with teenagers. Sonia also collaborated with the Duncan Dance Centre (Athens) in the "Moving Ground” program, exploring the relationship between permaculture and dance. She is a research associate in the 'NOMADIC ACADEMY,' a research dance project led by Anna Konjetzky (Munich), focusing on body politics through a feminist perspective. Currently, Sonia continues the tour of the participatory site-specific dance walk “Performing Ecosystems”, in collaboration with the A priori dance company, which takes place in various natural ecosystems in Greece. Her work in been outlined by the weaving between art, movement, and pedagogy. She emphasizes the importance of embodied art as a means to reconnect with our physical selves and our environments. Her interest lies in making high-quality artistic processes accessible to all, particularly in the context of global ethical and ecological crises. Her movement practice revolves around the continuous exploration of perceptual engagement and the sensory world, creating structures that allow for free association and personal discovery. Sonia's processes are accessible to all, regardless of experience, and invite participants to activate their imagination, critical thinking and sensitivity while exploring their sensory world.
